There’s a brand new event coming to Lennox & Addington on September 10th, and it’s sure to be a challenge for everyone involved. The North of 7 Challenge is a Obstacle Course Race (OCR) that will be sure to put participants’ endurance to the test.

Set among the backdrop of Canadian Shield wilderness just north of Cloyne, the 3km loop offers up a series of natural and man-made obstacles designed to push your physical limits. Challengers will be put through their paces with a tire trek, 7ft wall, log chop, log hurdles, spear throw and much more.

Race organizers Sylvie Manaigre and Mitch Broser from Move Better Health & Performance have experience training all levels of athletes, and have participated in similar events to this in other parts of the province. When they purchased their property at 33 Jacques Bay Road in Cloyne, they knew they had the perfect setting to bring an OCR event to the community.

The event is set up through Race Roster and features a number of categories of entry. Choose between a variety of heats, including competitive with mandatory obstacle completion, a non-competitive fun run, and a kids/youth challenge. Finishers receive a t-shirt and branded wooden token.

There is also a first responders’ heat (use the code ‘LACFIRE’ for a discount) and a 2-hour endurance challenge where participants can attempt to complete as many loops of the 3km course over a 2 hour period.

The top 5 finishers from the competitive and the top 10 from the endure heats qualify for the OCR World Championships Pro Division.

The North of 7 OCR Challenge is fun new way to blend physical training, social activity, and outdoor recreation. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
