When railway lines bypassed the village, manufacturers were unable to move goods efficiently to and from Newburgh and the population declined. Today Newburgh is a charming community with essential businesses and some unique stores and close to larger centres like Napanee and Kingston.
- There are three properties recognized in Newburgh as being of historical significance: Madden Store, 397 Main Street, Newburgh Academy, 411 Main Street and Newburgh United Church Cemetery, 2157 County Road 1.
- The Piggery Gallery – This inspiring and eclectic art gallery was at one time, literally… a piggery. Today the pig barn has been completely renovated and is filled to the brim with fine arts and crafts handmade by skilled local makers.
- Newburgh Conservation Park – Located on the Napanee River and Newburgh Canal this park has: riverside parkland with waterfalls, basketball court, bbq’s, baseball diamond, playground equipment, picnic tables and nature trails. You can find the park at 3 Factory Street.
