Living Here

Situated on the Napanee River

This hamlet was once a thriving area with numerous mills, factories and other businesses.

When railway lines bypassed the village, manufacturers were unable to move goods efficiently to and from Newburgh and the population declined. Today Newburgh is a charming community with essential businesses and some unique stores and close to larger centres like Napanee and Kingston.

  • There are three properties recognized in Newburgh as being of historical significance: Madden Store, 397 Main Street, Newburgh Academy, 411 Main Street and Newburgh United Church Cemetery, 2157 County Road 1.
  • The Piggery Gallery – This inspiring and eclectic art gallery was at one time, literally… a piggery. Today the pig barn has been completely renovated and is filled to the brim with fine arts and crafts handmade by skilled local makers.
  • Newburgh Conservation Park – Located on the Napanee River and Newburgh Canal this park has: riverside parkland with waterfalls, basketball court, bbq’s, baseball diamond, playground equipment, picnic tables and nature trails. You can find the park at 3 Factory Street.
