On Tuesday, May 5th, the County of Lennox & Addington Economic Development Coalition met to form a new Task Force to help guide Lennox and Addington through the reopening of our economy following lockdowns prompted by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The Economic Development Coalition is comprised of business leaders across all sectors of Lennox and Addington County’s economy. In order to respond to this business crisis Coalition membership has been expanded to include staff representation from our four partner municipalities (Addington Highlands, Greater Napanee, Loyalist & Stone Mills). In total, membership will be expanded to 17 individuals: three members of County Council,  ten business representatives and four representatives from Lennox and Addington partner municipalities.

The following will be the priorities of the Task Force:

• Providing advice and support for re-starting, re-opening, and re-launching our economy when given the appropriate authority from government officials.
• Providing information to County Council in support of advocating for the needs of the local business community to the provincial and federal governments.
• Providing input to the Economic Development Office on business impacts across the County.

“The Task Force will provide insight to our Economic Development staff, and as a collective we can help support businesses through these very difficult circumstances,” stated Lennox & Addington Warden Marg Isbester. “As the economy slowly begins to open up, the Task Force will help our businesses and residents find the right path going forward.”
