By Dorothy Mitchell — My husband and I love going exploring our County. We were very curious about Camden Lake Provincial Wildlife Area and nobody we spoke to had ever heard of it. So off we went. We knew it was somewhere near the small community of Moscow. After plugging 603 Card Road into our trusty GPS, we were led right to the park. From Napanee it is about a 30 minute drive.

Once we arrived we headed to the lookout that is right at the park entrance. It was a great view of Camden Lake. Lots of birds. If you love birdlife this is the place to see them. We saw many swans and great blue herons. After enjoying the scenery we went off in search of the trails. There are no signs anywhere to tell you where to go so it was a bit of adventure. We followed a very overgrown path that looked like ATVs had been on but that was about it. We eventually found the Blue Trail which is about 1.8 km return.

There is a lot of poison ivy so watch your step. There are also many downed trees. The beavers have been very busy. Once you got to the end of the point there was an another lookout that you could enjoy the view of Camden Lake.

We found another trail that branched off of the Blue trail that led us through a heavily forested area with many boardwalks to be enjoyed along the way. This was the orange trail that is about 1.6 km return. It is heavily overgrown but well worth exploring.

In addition to the hiking trails there is also a picnic are and a boat launch. We plan to come back with our kayaks to explore Camden Lake at a future date. We just celebrated 5 years in Napanee and loving every minute. There are so many things to do. Make sure you check out Naturally L&A for great suggestions for your family and friends to do in Napanee.
