Bon Echo Provincial Park
Standing the test of time
Bon Echo may be smaller than many of our Provincial Parks but it is arguably the most beautiful Provincial Park in Ontario. With several lakes and an abundance of hiking trails this is a wonderful area to explore by foot or by watercraft. The park has 530 campsites that include over 200 electrical-serviced sites, 30 back country canoe and hike-in sites, and 21 roofed accommodation structures. There are also day passes available for those who which to take advantage of everything the park has to offer without an overnight stay. Remember to bring your swimsuit, there’s three natural sandy beaches where swimming is encouraged.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of Bon Echo Provincial Park is Mazinaw Rock. At an astounding 1.5 km long and 100 m high, ‘the rock’ is a spectacular sight. Add in the 260 Indigenous pictographs dotted on its front and this natural wonder turns into and interactive art gallery for you and your family to decipher.

Park tips
- Paddleboats, canoes and kayaks are available to rent at the Bon Echo lagoon.
- Paddle-in campers staying on Joeperry Lake can enjoy their own secluded beach.
- Enjoy family programming at the amphitheatre & program areas.
- Lunch can be enjoyed at one of the many picnic areas.
- Swim at the popular Main Beach which has a sandy shore, a buoyed swimming area and picnic areas. Or take a dip at North or South Beach.
- Stop by Greystones Store for souvenirs and essentials.

Day trips
It’s true, Bon Echo is one of Ontario’s most popular camping spots but good news – you can also leave your tent at home and come for the day! The park provides day pass options for those who prefer not to camp. So come on in; enjoy the beach, see the famous Mazinaw Rock, go for a hike, have a picnic or take part in some of the many activities offered at this beautiful park.
Accommodations close by
If Bon Echo is fully booked or you’d rather sleep in an air conditioned room you can still enjoy all the amenities of the park and stay nearby. There’s no need to limit your stay to just one day when there are some great options to book a room close by. The best part? Pack light, leave your camping gear at home and just pull in and sleep after a fulfilling day at one of Ontario’s most scenic Provincial parks.
