Tuesday Night @ the Museum

Using Geneology & DNA to Trace Our Refugee Routes

March 21, 2023
Cost: $3/person
Type of Event: For Adults

7:00pm

If you dig a bit into most family trees you will find ancestors from across the country and around the world. Why did they move around? Was it their choice or were they forced to move away? Chances are that some were forced out and made refugees. What different tools can a genealogist use to locate these ancestors and their stories? How do you find those ancestors if your grandparents had to leave with only the clothes on their backs and never wanted to talk about where they came from or what happened? What can we do to trace the family tree with the one thing that every refugee took with them?

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
Jim Sova is a volunteer with the Archives at the Museum of Lennox and Addington. He has a passion for helping others solve family tree mysteries and unlocking the potential of DNA testing.

– For ages 13+
– $3/person
– No pre-registration required
