The Tallack Lion Dance team studies traditional Fat Shan dancing, and will be performing a demonstration at the Museum of Lennox and Addington! This style came to us from the village of Toi San, China. The Tallack team combines kung fu, music, puppetry, and the performing arts to tell a story with every dance. The current team is lead by Jennifer Ecclestone. They would also like to thank Sifu Robin Young for his continued guidance and mentorship. The lion dance brings good fortune and prosperity for events such as store openings, weddings, and the Chinese New Year. Now, they bring good fortune to this museum.
Tallack Martial Arts is the most sought-after martial arts school in Kingston. Founded by Hanshi Ken Tallack, 9th Dan, the dojo is a place of learning, history, training, and character development. We strive to combine the tradition of martial arts with innovative teaching methods from world-class instructors. With lessons offered in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate, Shaolin Kung Fu, Fut Shan Lion Dance, Okinawan Kobudo, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there’s always something new to learn and be a part of. Tallack Dojo is also a proud supporter of our community, regularly partnering with the food bank, clothing and toy drives, and families in need to make the world around us a better place.
