Do Israeli children dance the Hokey Pokey? Are dances that Israeli teens do different from the ones Canadian teens enjoy? What does music sung in Hebrew sound like? If you’re curious and want to learn some great dances from a country far away…try this workshop. Israel is one of the most multicultural countries in the world and its dances reflect that fact.

For the younger groups we’ll do age appropriate, fun children’s Israeli dances. For teens, there’s lively horas, chassidic dances of joy, perhaps a strong Arab debka, or exotic Yemenite dance and definitely a line dance or two.

Session One: For 4 – 7 years of age (parents/guardians of young children are encouraged to help their children, and dance!)
Time: 10:30 – 11:30am

Session Two: For 8 – 11 years of age
Time: 11:30am-12:00pm

Session Three: For ages 12+
Time: 1:00 – 1:45pm

Artist Bio

Jackie Mills has over 30 years of experience teaching Israeli dance to children, adults, seniors and special needs groups.

For the past 8 years she has been teaching the Israeli dance program for the Kingston Jewish Council . Her dancers have participated in multicultural events and they have hosted intercultural dance sessions. (New dancers are always welcome)

Kingston Jewish Council is a secular umbrella organization that furthers the welfare and security of the Jewish community, facilitates philanthropic, social, cultural, and educational activities, fosters cooperation within the Jewish community of Kingston, and speaks for the Kingston Jewish community on secular matters.
